Valley STEM Internship in the
Menomonee River Valley
June 17 - august 2, 2024
High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, who live in the City of Milwaukee and have a deep interest in careers in the engineering, architectural, or technological fields - the 2024 Valley STEM Internship is for you!
Apply here by Wednesday, April 10.
During this unique seven-week, paid internship, you will rotate between engineering firms, architectural firms, and/or manufacturing companies in the Menomonee River Valley located in the heart of Milwaukee. You will be connected to professionals and mentors, introducing you to a broad range of careers in the targeted industries, and highlighting many possible career pathways.
You will have room to explore new paths in high-profile careers through a unique hands-on learning experience during a variety of job shadowing engagements, site visits, and special projects. You are encouraged to explore in an environment tailored for curiosity and mentors will support you along the way.
The Valley STEM Internship is open to students of all backgrounds. Racial disparities within STEM related industries is a hard fact. A detailed study conducted by the National Science Foundation revealed that 49% of people in STEM fields are white males. Women, Black Americans, Native Americans, and people of Hispanic descent are highly underrepresented. Businesses in the Menomonee River Valley are seeking to increase inclusion and diversity in the sector by connecting with high school youth to highlight career pathways in the engineering field.
This internship will be conducted in-person, with COVID-19 safety protocols in mind. If you are interested in this program and have barriers that could prohibit participation, please contact Catrina at catrina@thevalleymke.org or 414-326-5077. If you have the desire to participate, we want to work with you to make it possible.
