Here is your chance to see what happens to all of the items you put in the recycling bin during a hard-hat tour of the Materials Recovery Facility which is located right in the Valley!
This impressive facility receives all of the recycling from Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. It’s then sorted and baled for shipment to other facilities that use them to create new products.
Anyone participating in a hard hat tour must wear tennis shoes or a shoe of similar sole thickness. Hard hats, safety vests, and eye protection will be provided. The tour involves steps and is not wheelchair accessible. Attendance is limited to 15 people.
We are excited to partner with Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful (KGMB) to show you where your recycling goes and why it's important to recycle right! KGMB is a non-profit organization that fosters environmental stewardship through beautification and education initiatives throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.
Our Valley Week tour is SOLD OUT. However, KGMB runs a free monthly tour on the first Tuesday of each month. The next tour with openings is on Tuesday, November 1, 12-1pm. Sign up here.
