Valley Talks: Socioeconomic Diversity in the Workplace

About Valley Talks

Valley businesses are working hard to create inclusive environments for their teams and are developing a wide range of strategies to meet the needs of their employees. Menomonee Valley Partners created Valley Talks as an avenue that employers can offer employees as a place to learn about diversity and inclusion issues that impact each of us, learn and engage with peers at local businesses, and gain new perspectives.

Each gathering has a different focus yet provides a no-judgment zone to learn more about yourself and provide peer-to-peer insight on diversity and inclusion practices in the workplace.

About this session

While we know that diversity benefits the workplace, socioeconomic diversity is not often part of the conversation. Most big companies today have diversity and inclusion programs focused on issues of race and gender in the workplace, but very few companies consider socioeconomic class. Employers who ignore class risk losing or alienating talented employees.

In January, we will dive into the benefits of socioeconomic diversity in the workplace and how best to engage and support those who come from different backgrounds. People with different backgrounds can bring additional knowledge and ideas to the table.

The style of this session is a roundtable discussion filled with questions to get us thinking and brainstorming on our current practices and how we can consider changes that will lead to a more inclusive and welcoming work environment for all.

All employees of Valley businesses are welcome to attend.
